Waiheke Island is a special escape—just a short ferry ride from Auckland yet a world away from the city. Like many, Alison and Brian first visited Waiheke as children before buying their own bach. They soon recognised what a paradise it was and made the move in the 1980s to raise their young family.

Brian turned his vision into reality by building a successful Four Square in Oneroa, while Alison shared her passion for education at the local school. Their story shifted in the late 1990s when they ventured into hospitality, taking over the Roanna Maree motel on Onetangi’s stunning beachfront. From there, they developed six more apartments, creating a home and business in one of the most enviable locations on Waiheke.

In the early 2000s, their love of nature took them further afield, expanding to Aotea (Great Barrier Island), where they dedicated 36 hectares to conservation.

While Aotea offers off-the-grid living, Onetangi provides a serene retreat with all the comforts of home.

Beyond Waiheke, Alison and Brian are avid travellers—spending winters cycling across the world for more than 30 years. As seasoned travellers, they understand what matters most to guests and enjoy connecting with people from all walks of life.

In 2024, the Walkers returned to personally manage the Onetangi Beachfront Apartments with their adult children. To avoid confusion with the neighbouring Onetangi Beach Apartments, they rebranded in 2025 under a new name: Beachfront on Waiheke. Same address, new look.
